UAE’s Rail Era Begins With Etihad Rail Passenger Launch Date Confirmed
The UAE’s long-awaited national passenger rail network now has a timetable, marking one of the country’s most significant infrastructure milestones and introducing a new era of connected mobility across the country.
Etihad Rail has confirmed passenger operations will begin from 30 June 2026, with the first phase linking Abu Dhabi and Fujairah in approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, ahead of broader network expansion later this year.
Once fully delivered, the network will span more than 900km and connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE, including Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, Al Dhannah, Al Faya, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira’a, Al Mirfa and Al Sila, creating an entirely new layer of national connectivity.
For real estate, the significance extends beyond transport infrastructure. Rail-led connectivity has historically influenced where people choose to live, work and invest and Etihad Rail has the potential to accelerate interest in emerging residential corridors, support mixed-use development around stations and strengthen demand across previously less-accessible markets.
As stations open in phases through 2026 and into 2027, the network’s impact may be measured not only in travel times, but in how it reshapes the geography of future growth across the UAE.
