The UAE Public Prosecution Warns that Sharing Rumours or Unverified Information Online Is Punishable by Law
The UAE’s Public Prosecution has issued an official warning that anyone who publishes, reposts, or shares rumours, false information, or unverified news on social media or any digital platform could face legal consequences under UAE law. It stressed that spreading unconfirmed reports can create confusion and pose risks to public safety and stability.
Authorities urged everyone to rely only on official, verified sources for information and not be influenced by content from unknown or untrusted sources, even if they didn’t originally create that content.
In its statement, the Public Prosecution reminded the public that sharing rumours is a responsibility and that such actions are considered a crime.
