🌴 🌊 The Red Sea Project and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 Tourism Shift

Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Project is emerging as one of the most ambitious tourism developments aligned with Vision 2030. Led by Red Sea Global and backed by the Public Investment Fund, the destination spans 28,000 km² along the Kingdom’s northwest coast, encompassing over 90 pristine islands and untouched inland landscapes.

Planned for full completion by 2030, the project will deliver up to 50 hotels, 8,000+ keys, and more than 1,000 residences across islands and desert sites, supported by a purpose-built international airport. The ambition is clear: position Saudi Arabia as a world-class luxury and experiential tourism destination while diversifying its economy beyond oil.

What sets the Red Sea Project apart is its commitment to regenerative tourism. The entire destination is designed to operate on 100% renewable energy, target net-zero emissions by 2030, and deliver a net positive conservation impact through large-scale habitat restoration, marine protection, and low-impact development.

Beyond hospitality, the project represents a structural economic shift. It is expected to generate tens of thousands of jobs, attract long-term global investment, and play a key role in Saudi Arabia’s goal of welcoming 150 million visitors annually by 2030.

As openings accelerate through the latter half of the decade, the Red Sea Project is positioning itself not just as a luxury destination, instead, it is shaping up to become a benchmark for how tourism, sustainability, and nation-building can intersect.
