Dubai’s Global Pull Strengthens as Firms Expand Footprint 41%

Dubai’s business ecosystem is tightening its grip on global firms. The Dubai World Trade Centre Free Zone recorded a 41% increase in new licences in 2025, signalling sustained demand from international companies looking to anchor themselves in one of the region’s most strategically positioned commercial hubs.

850 new licences were issued over the year, while renewals hit 1,822, pushing retention rates to 96%, a clear indicator that companies aren’t just entering, they’re staying.

The total number of active businesses has now crossed 2,500, with workforce numbers rising sharply. Employee visas climbed more than 20% year-on-year, surpassing 8,000 professionals operating within the zone.

What is powering the growth:
– AI and emerging tech firms scaling into the region
– Virtual asset companies seeking regulatory clarity
– Sports and entertainment businesses expanding through dedicated clusters
The profile of the free zone is also shifting. The number of nationalities represented has expanded from 107 to 148, reflecting a broader, more globally diversified business base.

Major names; including Louis Vuitton, KPMG, Baker Tilly, and Deutsche Messe, have all established a presence, reinforcing the free zone’s appeal across sectors.

Dubai isn’t just attracting volume, it’s attracting high-value, future-focused businesses aligned with its long-term economic agenda. Furthermore, increasingly those businesses are choosing to stay.
