Dubai’s Flying Taxi Network Moves Closer to Launch as First Vertiport Nears Completion

Dubai is preparing to take urban travel into the skies, with its first purpose-built flying taxi vertiport near Dubai International Airport moving closer to launch.
Commercial passenger services are expected to begin later in 2026, connecting the airport with key destinations including Downtown Dubai, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina.

The electric air taxis, operated by Joby Aviation, will carry a pilot and up to four passengers at speeds of up to 200 mph. A journey from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah is expected to take approximately 12 minutes, compared with around 45 minutes by car.

The initial network will include vertiports serving Dubai International Airport, Dubai Mall, Atlantis The Royal and the American University in Dubai, providing access to some of the city’s largest residential, business and tourism districts. Passengers will also be able to book eligible journeys through the Uber app, with ground transfers incorporated into the trip.

For the property market, the project highlights how transport infrastructure continues to influence the way Dubai’s communities are planned and connected. Developments near future vertiports could benefit from faster access to airports, employment centres and major lifestyle destinations, although pricing, passenger capacity and the accessibility of the service will determine its wider impact.

The first routes may serve a relatively small share of daily commuters, but the broader significance lies in Dubai creating an entirely new layer of urban transport and integrating it directly with major real estate destinations.
