Dubai’s ‘Big Ben’ Enters a New Chapter as Landmark Tower Is Redesigned
One of Sheikh Zayed Road’s most recognisable buildings is undergoing a major transformation, with the tower commonly known as Dubai’s “Big Ben” being relaunched as AHS Tower.
AHS Properties is removing the building’s distinctive crown and replacing it with a contemporary exterior designed in collaboration with Killa Design, the architecture firm behind Dubai’s Museum of the Future.
The 69-storey tower was originally designed with space for a clock face, although the clock itself was never installed. Its resemblance to London’s Elizabeth Tower nevertheless made it a familiar part of Dubai’s skyline.
The redevelopment will turn the long-vacant building into a Grade A commercial destination featuring premium offices, wellness facilities, indoor green spaces, winter gardens, social areas and Sky Galleries.
Located near DIFC and directly beside a Metro station, the project combines an established address with growing demand for high-quality commercial space. Its office inventory has already sold out during development, generating more than $700 million in sales.
AHS Tower is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027, giving a familiar landmark a new commercial purpose while significantly changing its architectural identity.
