Dubai Upgrades Ejari to Simplify Rental Contracts and Utility Setup

Dubai Upgrades Ejari to Simplify Rental Contracts and Utility Setup

Dubai has upgraded its Ejari service on DubaiNow, bringing tenancy registration, renewals, cancellations and DEWA security deposit payments into one digital process.

Tenants and landlords can create and register contracts through the app, with Ejari certificates issued immediately after contract approval. Renewals and cancellations can also be completed digitally using UAE PASS.

For tenants, the update reduces the separate steps involved in registering a lease and arranging utilities. DEWA security deposits can be paid within the same process, simplifying preparations for moving in.

Landlords and investors gain a more straightforward way to manage tenancy administration, from registering a new agreement to renewing or cancelling an existing contract. This could reduce the time spent coordinating routine procedures, particularly across multiple rental properties.

For buyers planning to let out a property, the service simplifies part of the administration involved in becoming a landlord. Its immediate benefit is operational, with rental returns still dependent on the purchase price, ownership costs and tenant demand.

The announcement follows approximately AED 32.2 billion in rental contracts registered during the first quarter of 2026, including 118,385 new agreements and 135,607 renewals.
