Abu Dhabi's Guggenheim to Open on 11 December After Two-Decade Journey

Abu Dhabi has confirmed the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will officially open on 11 December 2026, marking a major milestone for the emirate's cultural ambitions and bringing one of the world's most anticipated museum projects to life after nearly two decades of planning.

Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, the museum will be the largest in the Guggenheim network and a defining addition to Saadiyat Cultural District. The landmark will feature 30 galleries dedicated to modern and contemporary art, with a particular focus on artists from West Asia, North Africa and South Asia, alongside international collections.

Its opening represents another significant step in Abu Dhabi's long-term investment in arts, culture and tourism, joining a growing collection of world-class institutions that continue to position the emirate as a global cultural destination.
