🇦🇪 🛣️ 75 Roads in a Month: How Dubai’s Infrastructure Acceleration Is Reshaping Urban Mobility

Dubai is embarking on an ambitious infrastructure push designed to keep pace with its rapid urban growth and evolving mobility needs. This year, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has accelerated a series of major road projects, contracts, and network improvements across the emirate, underlining a strategic commitment to enhance connectivity, reduce travel times and support economic activity as the city continues to expand.

Among the headline developments, the RTA has awarded a Dhs1.5 billion contract to significantly upgrade Al Fay Street, adding approximately 13,500 metres of bridges and 12,900 metres of new roads that will improve east–west connectivity between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road and enhance capacity for more than 64,000 vehicles per hour.

Complementing this is a fleet of more than 75 traffic improvement and road enhancement projects planned or underway, spanning major corridors and residential zones across Dubai. These initiatives include widening key connections like Sheikh Zayed Road, expanding strategic ramps, and realigning intersections to better serve commuter flows, ultimately doubling capacity and cutting daily congestion significantly in peak areas.

This infrastructure acceleration aligns with broader urban planning goals, reflecting Dubai’s ambition to support its residents, businesses, and future population growth while enhancing quality of life. It also underscores the crucial role of transport infrastructure in underpinning economic resilience and

positioning the emirate as a connected global hub.

These developments are likely to shape how people live, work, and move through the city, reducing friction in daily commutes and reinforcing Dubai’s long-term growth trajectory.
